Institute of remote sensing

This page gives you a list of the institutes of remote sensing in the world and the contact adress:

Institute of remote sensing applications - chinese Academy of sciences

The Research Directions and Structure: IRSA is an organization does research on the basic theories of remote sensing, advanced technologies, applications and integrated applications of remote sensing. There are 14 research laboratories under IRSA, as innovative basic units. Radiation transfer and remote sensing laboratory, Environment remote sensing Laboratory and Remote Sensing and Earth Systematic Simulation Laboratory are doing research on basic theories of remote sensing. Hyperspectral remote sensing laboratory, Microwave remote sensing laboratory, Remote sensing calibration and validation laboratory and Remote sensing image processing laboratory are doing research on advanced technologies of remote sensing. Agriculture and ecological remote sensing laboratory, Land resource remote sensing laboratory, Non-renewable remote sensing laboratory and Disaster and emergency remote sensing laboratory are doing research on integrated applications of remote sensing. Spatial information system laboratory and Digital earth and navigation positioning laboratory are doing research on spatial information technology and service. IRSA also contains four national organizations of remote sensing, which are State Key Laboratory of Remote Sensing Information Sciences, Demonstration Center for Space-borne Remote Sensing cooperated with National Space Administration, National Engineering Research Center for Geoinformatics and State Environmental Protection Key Laboratory of Satellites Remote Sensing Applications. The research supporting system of IRSA contain MODIS satellite receiving station, remote sensing experimental test site and online remote sensing data center.

IRSA has six affiliate companies, in which have 212 technical employees. The net assets of these six companies in 2008 are 79.1 million, and gross profit is 5.11 million. They provide service which related to following technology. Such as organizing technology of virtual quadtree data; TB spatial information technology service; 3D digital earth technology; spatial information platform of digital city; searching technology of spatial information network. The arrange of technologies they provided takes the leading position in China.

INSTITUTE OF REMOTE SENSING - ANNA UNIVERSITY CHENNAI

AnnaUniversity blossomed to its present status from a humble beginning in 1978 has the first ‘SurveySchool’ in the country to produce land surveys.  AnnaUniversity provide higher education in Engineering, Technology and allied Sciences relevant to the current and projected needs of the society.  At present the University offers 33 Undergraduate and 56 Post graduate degree programmes,  5 Post graduate diploma programmes leading to M.Phill, M.S and Doctoral Degree in several branches of Engineering / Technology and Applied Sciences.  Over 600 faculty members, catering to student strength of over 6000 out of which 27 percent are woman students, support the University.  The University receives grant from the State and Central Governments, National and International Agencies and Industrial houses.  It has an extensive interaction with Indian Industries, National Research Laboratories and InternationalUniversities.  This enables the University to keep pace with new developments.  NAAC has recognized the University as Five Star status.  IRS is the Tamil Nadu State Remote Sensing Applications Centre.
The Institute of Remote Sensing (IRS) was established in 1982 by AnnaUniversity with the funds provided by the Government of Tamil Nadu. Over the years, the infrastructural facilities have been gradually built-up using development grants mainly from Ministry of Human Resources Development, University Grants Commission, Federal Republic of Germany, Government of India and Department of Agriculture of Government of Tamil Nadu. At present, the Institute is rated as one of the best in the country in the areas of Remote Sensing, Geographical Information System and Large Scale Mapping. The Institute functions as an autonomous unit of AnnaUniversity, governed by an executive committee headed by the Vice-Chancellor and the recurring grants for maintenance are provided by the Government of Tamil Nadu. As an externally assisted project, The Federal Republic of Germany has provided assistance worth 7 million DM towards equipment, exchange of staff and for conducting a 4-year engineering Under-Graduate program, B.E. (Geoinformatics), which is the only program of its kind in this country. The Institute has about 2400 square metres of built-up space for various laboratories equipped with sophisticated instruments and machinery worth Rs.150 million. The main building and laboratories are centrally air-conditioned

INDIAN INSTITUTE OF REMOTE SENSING

Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) under Indian Space Research Organisation, Department of Space, Govt. of India is a premier Training and Educational Institute set up for developing trained professionals in the field of Remote Sensing, Geoinformatics and GPS Technology for Natural Resources, Environmental and Disaster Management.
It functions as a constituent Unit of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Department of Space, Government of India. Formerly known as Indian Photo-interpretation Institute (IPI), founded in 1966, the Institute boasts to be the first of its kind in entire South-East Asia. While nurturing its primary endeavour to build capacity among the user community by training mid-career professionals, the Institute has enhanced its capability and evolved many training & education programmes that are tuned to meet the requirements of various target groups, ranging from fresh graduates to policy makers including academia.
The Institute campus also houses the headquarters of the Centre for Space Science and Technology Education in Asia and The Pacific (CSSTEAP), affiliated to the United Nations and first of its kind established in the region in 1995. IIRS provides support to conduct all its remote sensing and GIS training & education programmes at postgraduate level. The headquarters of Indian Society of Remote Sensing (ISRS), the largest non-governmental scientific society in the country, is also located in the Institute campus.
